This print was created from my belief that the true North American royalty are the hereditary First Nation's chiefs that have been on this land for thousands of years. I believe that it is time for the British monarchy and the Canadian government to acknowledge this fact with statues and plaques in all the areas where they honour the first Europeans.
The Thunderbird symbolizes strength, courage and respect. It is the most powerful of all symbols, and is seen as the ruler of the sky. The Sisiutl symbolizes the battle between positive and negative forces, and the skulls represent the ancestors who guide us. The combination of the Thunderbird and the Sisiutl creates the highest recognized crest on the West Coast. This is my mother's Royal Family Crest, a symbol of hereditary chieftanship; true
